β‘ Utility
Day-to-day essentials running on leafyserver. Privacy-respecting web search via SearXNG, local smart home automation and offline voice assistant processing powered by Home Assistant and Wyoming, and Leafy Chat running on the server's own GPU, all built for zero cloud dependence and instant response times.
How it works
Search
Submit a query in SearXNG from any browser, desktop, or mobile device.
Anonymize
SearXNG strips tracking cookies and proxies outbound engine requests through an encrypted VPN tunnel.
Deliver
Aggregated, ad-free results return simultaneously from multiple major search engines.
Automate
Home Assistant listens for scheduled routines, environmental sensors, and lighting events.
Control
Smart ambient lighting and Bluetooth peripherals adjust immediately with 100% local processing.
Chat
Leafy Chat runs the AI model locally on the server's GPU, optionally pulling in live SearXNG results before it answers.
Everyday tools

Architecture & privacy
Encrypted Search Routing
All outbound SearXNG requests route through Gluetun's encrypted WireGuard VPN tunnel. Major search providers see only the VPN gateway IPβnever the server's home connection or your browsing device.
Local AI, No Cloud Calls
Leafy Chat's language model runs on the server's own NVIDIA GPU through Ollama. No prompt or response is ever sent to an outside AI provider, and new sign-ups need admin approval before they can use it.
RAG Live Web Search
Leafy Chat integrates SearXNG directly into its Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipeline over the internal Docker network, feeding up-to-the-minute web results into AI responses anonymously and securely.
100% Local-First IoT
Home Assistant operates without external cloud dependencies. Smart devices, Bluetooth accessories, and ambient lighting controllers talk directly to the server on the local network, so automations keep working even if the internet goes down.
Offline Voice Processing
Wyoming Whisper, Piper, and OpenWakeWord process speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and wake word detection entirely on the server. Smart home voice commands never leave the local network or touch big-tech cloud servers.
Continuous Health & Update Tracking
SearXNG, Home Assistant, and Wyoming are watched around the clock by Uptime Kuma with instant Discord alerts for any downtime, while Diun checks daily for official container updates without applying unvetted breaking changes.
